K&N Safety Recall

K&N recently recalled certain K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kits sold for certain Dodge trucks and SUVS. They discovered that the air delivery tubes in these kits had durability problems that could cause pieces of plastic to breakaway—which could become jammed and could cause loss of control of your motor vehicle.

If you have one of the vehicles listed below, and the air delivery tube has the “Mopar Performance Parts” trademark, the kit is covered by the recall and you should call K&N at 800-858-333 for a replacement part, at no charge to you.

“The K&N cold air system is arguably the best air induction on the market.”

Many companies brag and brag about how great their products are. Let the consumer speak for themselves. Here are four new K&N FIPK raves posted by consumers.

“K&N looks good and seems to have given me better performance. A little expensive for what you get. Over all a good product. Getting everything air tight was a small challenge, but with persistence can be done.” — Brad S. 2006 Chevy Silverado

“The installation was very easy. Nothing complicated at all. Took about 15 mins. to install once I found my tools. Sound better than the stock one. Not really sure yet how much performance or mileage increase as of yet. Will soon have that data. Overall good experience.” — Joaquin R. 2005 Chevy Silverado

The K&N Intake kit was a pretty simple install, but the instructions could be a little bit more clear, not a big deal though. The sound is great after adding the filter and it seems so far that my truck likes being able to breath now, also looks like a small gain in mileage, I really havent driven to much since install but overall it seems like a good product. and goes well with my bullydog programmer.” —Nickolas L. 2003 Dodge Ram

“The K&N cold air system is arguably the best air induction on the market. This was an easy install and AutoAnything got it to me really quick! The price is a bit steep but the name backs up its product. You wont be disappointed.” —Michael N. 2002 Jeep Wrangler

“I bought this for a 2007 dodge ram with a hemi. Once you figure out the instructions then it’s ok. It really sounds great having this under the hood, brings back memories! If you can keep your foot out of it for long enough to check mileage, mine improved. It’s just so dang hard not to step on that right pedal. Torque/horse power feels like it may have improved slightly.” —John W. 2007 Dodge Ram

The Latest K&N FIPK Customer Reviews

“I love the way my K & N FIPK Air Intake makes my 07 Chevrolet Avalanche sound. I loved it so much that I put it on the highway, and then drove directly to the muffler shop and had a flowmaster muffler and dual exhaust done. The K & N was easy to install, and looks great on my vehicle. Thanks Auto anything. Eugene ”

2007 Chevy Avalanche (Beaumont,TX)

“Installation wasn’t too bad. Overall it’s a good product. I have a Gibson Exhaust on my truck so once I put this on I could tell some gains in horse power. As far as Gas Mileage it didn’t help that much. At first my gas mileage went from 9 to 14 miles per gallon. . . Then I realized that’s just because I disconnected the battery, because ever since the gas mileage is slowly going down to where it was before.”

Anonymous

“Works VERY well. Mileage has incresed by as much as 4 MPG depending on how I drive my Ridgeline. Problem is, this thing sounds so cool, and gives off such great ooomph at high RPMs, that it’s hard to keep my foot out of it. Performs EXACTLY as advertised.”

2007 Honda Ridgeline (Hotchkiss,CO)

“I bought my system in hopes for more power and fuel efficiency, to my surprise, I got both. The power can definitely be felt in 1st and 2nd gears and past 3000rpm in 3rd, I don’t get it up that high in 4th/5th to feel a difference. So far for fuel economy, I’ve been gettin 1-2 mpg better than before, but need to find a consistent station to get gas from (one that doesn’t have ethanol seems to run best). You can also hear the intake when you’re giving it gas, and when you get into it, it whistles and reminds me of a mini-turbo, absolutely looove that sound. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and autoanything was the cheapest I could find it.”

2004 Ford Ranger (Clymer,PA)
